Hi, welcome to the MTNT Blog!
I would like this to be a place where you can find lots of interesting tutorials, articles, and news related to IT — mainly topics like backups, data security, and IT infrastructure, but also some more casual topics such as building your own homelab or electronic DIY projects.
There will be (I hope) many posts about backup systems — both enterprise-class solutions as well as smaller ones, and even completely free tools. I hope that if you work in IT, a large portion of these articles will be useful in your daily job.
However, if you are not (or not yet) professionally connected with IT, that’s perfectly fine! I also want to reach those of you who simply enjoy reading interesting things or want to discover new passions — I’d be very happy if I could inspire someone.
You can expect quite a lot of content about open-source or free systems and software. I won’t hide that I’m a big fan of Linux and Proxmox. Remember — Linux is the best! Just like in this picture:

But seriously, I’d like to show that sometimes, with a small investment of resources, you can build interesting environments that can be used in many different ways. You’ll also be able to read about various alternatives to more expensive hardware or software.
There are also many IT topics that I know little or nothing about and that I’d like to explore in more depth myself. In fact, even in “my” area of backups and data security, there’s still a huge amount of knowledge and experience for me to discover. That’s why many articles will be a record of what I’m currently learning and thinking through. If you spot bad practices or incorrect configurations in the posts and know that something should be done differently, feel free to comment. I’m constantly learning, and I don’t think there’s a better way to grow than by exchanging experiences.
A few words about me
I’m an IT specialist with 10 years of experience. I started with classic helpdesk work — like installing the Adobe Reader on employees’ computers 😅 — and over time my knowledge and responsibilities smoothly evolved into administering all kinds of systems and servers, a bit of PHP programming, and many other things. For the last few years my professional work has mainly revolved around data security and backups.
Besides my passion for IT, I’m also interested in cars and motorcycles — especially older ones from the Eastern Bloc 🙂. I’ve done several restorations of such vehicles (e.g. WSK motorcycles), and I’m also the owner of a Polonez (polish made car) that I’ve driven quite a bit around Europe.
See you in the next posts!
